The Affiliation between Diabetes and Obesity

Doctors, researchers and medical professionals have found that diabetes and obesity go hand-in-hand. People who have excess weight are vulnerable to type-2 diabetes (also called “adult-onset” diabetes) more so if one of the family member is affected with diabetes. For that reason, it becomes significant to maintain a healthy body weight throughout your life in order to protect from a chronic disease like diabetes.
Both diabetes and obesity are attributed to factors like age, race, family health history, genes and hormones. What was translucent previously has now become clear that benefits of modern life also contribute significantly to the development of both the diseases. For instance, increasing preference towards junk food, deskbound lifestyles and reduced physical activity are known to lead to obesity. But, is there a connection between Obesity and Diabetes?

The glucose converts to fats and makes you gain weight. That’s the closest link we can find between insulin and obesity. If you have been diagnosed with diabetes, you need to alter your diet. If you do not, it will become impossible to control weight once you start taking insulin which will only augment the situation and increase your risk of developing diabetes-related complications. 

Reality Check- Once you commence insulin intake, your body doesn’t require much food since it’s using the food properly, rather than wasting it. Therefore, modifying your eating habits will help you prevent weight gain that is often associated with insulin.


Lose excessive weight and prevent weight
